The syllabus of Language Mastery is divided into two terms. The first term is mainly related to advanced lexis and formulaic language. The second term covers variety of contextual language skills, namely critical reading, public speaking, academic and job correspondence and book review writing.
Second semester covers four units: (1). active/critical reading, (2)public speaking, (3). motivation letters (personal statements) and cover letters, (4). book review.

- UNIT 1. ACTIVE READING/ CRITICAL READING
UNIT 1. ACTIVE READING/ CRITICAL READING
The first part of the the first unit deals with active reading. It mainly highlights the PDP reading strategy (pre, during and post reading).
In this workbook, you find variety of texts and reading activities that focus on the PDP reading strategy besides some grammar and vocabulary practices.
- Part II of the first unit is about critical reading. In here, you will learn how to read a text critically. “Critical reading involves presenting a reasoned argument that evaluates and analyses what you have read.”

"Practice makes perfect: Advanced English reading and comprehension" is a very interesting reading workbook for advanced learners in which they find many advanced texts for critical reading.
