This course presents
details about syllabus and curriculum design to Master students of English
language classes. It introduces the types of syllabi design and Needs analysis
contribution to meet the targeted students’ needs in EFL classes. The course of syllabus
design is designed mainly to recognize the main syllabus design components that
function interactively to deliver a comprehensive course.

The goal of research methodology is to learn how research is done and to put that knowledge into practice. This course is divided into three parts: the first part entitled getting started consists of introducing the elements of a research proposal and how to structure them. The second part is devoted to the identification of qualitative and quantitative research designs, the corresponding research methods and analysis. The semester ends with how to write the most important parts of a dissertation, such as the abstract the general introduction and the general conclusion.

This course focuses on the analysis of quantitative data in the fields of Applied Linguistics and TEFL. In addition to reviewing basic concepts in the field of statistics, the course introduces students to the main statistical tests used to determine the existence and strength of a relationship between two or more variables. This includes the statistical tests examining the significance of a difference (e.g., Paired t-test, One-Way-ANOVA …etc.) or a relationship (e.g., Pearson correlation, Spearman correlation). The course also includes practical face-to-face and online activities in which the students will practice their knowledge of the different concepts and the mastery of the different statistical tests.
