This book resumes with many additions a course of "Bachelor of Mathematics 2nd year, numerical analysis 1" given at the University of Biskra for several years. This course contains a fairly substantial treatment of polynomial interpolation, of the approximate calculus of integrals and of the approximation of the roots of equations; three themes that often form the core of an introduction to numerical analysis.
The aim of this course is to introduce students to some theoretical notions and a certain number of fundamental techniques of Numerical Analysis. Numerical analysis is a branch of mathematics whose main objective is the study of methods for solving complex numerical problems. The study of these methods is not new, but nowadays with the help of computers, they can be used very e¤ectively to solve problems that were not possible before.
In this book, we focus on understanding fundamental mathematical concepts and mastering problem-solving skills using numerical methods using MATLAB. Obviously, the basic notions must be taught so that students can correctly formulate mathematical problems. Then, students can directly use MATLAB codes to solve practical problems. Virtually every concept in the text is illustrated with an example and contains classroom-
tested exercises ranging from fundamental applications of methods and algorithms to generalizations and extensions of theory.
