2.2. Functions in Architecture
Functions are the manifestations of the use dimension of the most important Utilitarian Art. This chapter intends to explain the utilitarian aspect of Architecture. The notion of function is introduced not only as an element of a historical debate between functionalists and formalists but moreover as an indicator of the general utilitarian aspect of Architecture. The chapter presents an historical aspect with classification of Architectural functions. It provides then some general requirements to a successful project in terms of functionality.
